This paper discusses whether the therapist’s true nature and individual style may arise directly from the realm of myths. Can the therapist stay connected with her/his mythic worldview and work from that mythic awareness? How can the therapist be enriched by the mythic knowledge that comes from the land, the people and historical and cultural influences that have shaped her/him? This study tries to answer these questions and illuminate the moments when the mythical world reveals itself. The presenter shares insights originating from his visits to mythical places In Europe and his studies of Finno-Ugric and Scandinavian myths. He will also sing and talk about the Kalevala, a collection of epic poetry from Karelia and Finland. The aim of the paper is to inspire the IAPOP Research Conference participants to gain new ideas for accessing, embodying and expressing the processes that occur on the mythical dimensions.
