What are homophobia and transphobia? How do gays, lesbians, bisexual and transsexual people experience it? How do their families and the educational community experience it? What is the role of educators in dealing with homophobia and transphobia? Lena Aslanidou, Vera Lardi and Alexandra Vassiliou designed a community project which included a theater performance (based on true stories of lesbians, gays, bisexuals and trans people, as well as parents and educators), followed by an open forum discussion with the audience. The goal was to ponder these questions, using theater and dialogue. To discuss together about how homophobia and transphobia marginalize people, and create pain regardless of gender identity or sexual orientation. In this workshop we will present a video of the theater play (55 min) and will discuss with workshop participants the design, creation and implementation of this community project.
