Career Dream is a career based intervention developed from Process-oriented Psychology and has been evaluated in two separate contexts; one with unemployed people in an Adult Guidance Centre in Donegal and the second study focused on students at Trinity College Dublin. The university based interviews were analysed qualitatively while those in the adult guidance setting were analysed quantitatively. The aim of the career Dream is to assess the emotional and psychological identity that is embodied within a person’s perception of their future vocational self – the projected sense of being. In these studies Career Dream intervention was used to explore career goals and to facilitate the client accessing in a single session the embodied sense of self that their dream career promises. In both studies pre and post testing has shown that clients have a significant increase in their motivation and a greater clarity of career goals and aspirations.
